Preparation
Wash the herrings, pat them dry and season intensely with salt and freshly ground pepper inside and outside. Peel the onion and cut it into half-slices. Mix the herring with the onion and put it in the fridge for about 2 hours.
.Beat the egg and season lightly with salt and pepper. Coat the fish in egg and breadcrumbs mixed with grated cheese. Sprinkle gently with oil or olive oil. Bake at 180 degrees Celsius for approx. 20-25 minutes.
